Teleseminar Secrets 2009 – Watch This Sales Model

If you’ve read my blog for any amount of time, you know of my appreciation/fascination with Alex Mandossian’s Teleseminar Secrets program.

I’d love to deconstruct his sales process / model for you here.

Anyone looking to sell a “big ticket” product could learn from it.

Anyone who doesn’t think a “big ticket” product is within their reach could learn from it (and perhaps be inspired to act).

It starts with a free custom “Electronic Marketing Analysis.” The process starts way low – something of value for just a name and email address. Address ain’t abused, everything remains totally can-spam compliant (you’ll never buy a product from someone who abuses your email address).

From there the offer becomes the $20 preview call (this year, December 4th). Not only does the product come with a year-long money back guarantee but a lot is a stake here. Imagine how much content Alex has to deliver for $20 to convince you to pick up his very expensive training program. This is really as much a numbers game as it is a sales game.

And then, the Teleseminar Secrets full course. First class session is on December 8 and the “doors close” 2 days earlier. Why would anyone close a cash-cow like this? If anyone is going to spend the kind of money Alex asks them to spend, people need to know they are spending the money on someone who can be trusted. You’d be surprised how many people are taking the class this year because they didn’t believe Alex last year.

So clean this model, … give them good free content to show them the value, show them money spent on this path is money well spent, over-deliver and stay true to your word.

Podcast Books

First a quick shout-out to Hendrix and/or BSG Fans

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Theres too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth

When we first grabbed an ISBN number for The Business Podcasting Bible, there was nothing else on the landscape. Trust you me this, brand confusion is never good. That was 2005, a few weeks before the first PME.

Twas fun to scramble to get that thing out in time for last year’s PME. I actually didn’t even seen the first printing of the book until I checked into the hotel the day before. I could tell you stories of publishers, printing presses, etc. Twas a thrill to have the book signing last year.

BTW, an excerpt from the book (and an interview) is in this month’s Blogger and Podcaster Magazine (page 36). What a trip to hear their voice guy read the words we wrote. Nice thing is, a year later, it still stands up. Tricky tricky we were making no mention of specific technologies in the book.

In February of 2007 (at least that’s when Amazon says it came out) we saw the “Podcasting Bible” from Wiley and co-authors Mitch Ratcliffe and Steve Mack. I had met Mitch once at an event and he seems a nice enough guy. Haven’t seen the book yet – but it did get an endorsement from Scoble.

So, what do you do when there is a “Business Podcasting Bible” and a “Podcasting Bible?”

You come out with a “Business Podcasting Book” of course. Yes, the official title is considerably longer (as is ours) but go ahead and look at the front cover, those are the words that get the big print – the word’s they’ll see in the bookstore. The author list for this one if very impressive as well (and it is under the Podcast Academy brand) and I, personally, can’t wait to pick me up a copy. It’s on pre-order, but something tells me that this one will be at PME as well.

BTW, not crying foul or anything here. There are places for each of these books in the landscape and I’m thrilled that so many dead trees are making it to Amazon so that we can revolutionize the media by making everything digital. I just find it kind of humorous, … I think you might as well.

Business Podcasting Bible Review

Was just looking at the reviews for The Business Podcasting Bible at Amazon today.

Check out this one:

The Business Podcasting Bible is one of those pivotal books that points towards the future of publishing, by synergizing the on-line and off-line publishing world. I have no doubt in saying it shall be a seminal marketing model and book in years to come, that many of us will point to as an inspiration to fusing on-line and off-line marketing to our income streams.

Wow.  Danny Guspie, where we you when we were writing the front matter for that book?

GeekBriefed Again!

First the subliminal advertising controversy and now this.

The gracious Cali Lewis mentioned The Business Podcasting Bible on GeekBrief #78.  She is one of the case studies – one of our favorites.
First the issue with the off-coloring at Amazon and now our book in glorious greenscreen (watch the video) … we got a lot of people who are going to be surprised when they see how gorgeous the cover actually is.

Thanks Cali for the shout out!

That Darned Candles Podcast

I’ve written previously of candle Podcasts.

I had lunch today with kelly McAwley of the Timeless Candles Podcast. He said something today I never really expected to hear him say:

I really need to get some more episodes out.

After a little digging I found that his Candles Podcast makes a lot more sense than I had previously realized.

I interviewed him for the Profitable Podcasting Podcast today. It’s 30 minutes that will change the way you think about Podcast Monetization.

Interviewed By Podcasting’s Own Jimmy Stewart – Guess Who’s on Behind the Mic This Week?

After seriously digging the interview with Podpress’ Dan Kuykendall last week, imagine my thrill when Podcasting’s Jimmy Stewart (Michael Geoghegan) asked me on his Behind the Mic show.

The result is 37 minutes of me an Jimmy talking about the book, Podcast Monetization, and Apple’s announcements earlier this week. Good time was had by all – and I recommend you take a listen.

The interview is here. You can download or click to play.
