How to Podcast.

Ever wanted to know how to Podcast?  What is a Podcast? Have questions about Podcasting?

A lot has changed since the release of The Business Podcasting Bible.  Little things like … the iPhone … 3G data connected phones … Apple TV and more.

Like YouTube Strategies, this one answers the 21 questions I get asked the most about Podcasting.  +Mike Koenigs and +Gene Naftulyev added to the mix and we have something pretty special here.

YouTube Paid Channels And Apple TV.

As I write this, the Apple TV YouTube interface (app?) does not support the YouTube Paid Channels program.  You can see a channel you've subscribe to in your list of channels but it doesn't pull up any of the videos.

I don't know if we'll see an update any time soon (as is does compete with what Apple TV is trying to do), but if you watch this video:

YouTube Paid Channels Work Great On The iPhone And iPad – iOS

The Paid Channels work great in either the iPhone or iPad YouTube App and they do Airplay quite nicely.

Google Killing Google Reader On July 1.

I logged into Google Reader today to find a message that they're going to kill it come July 1, 2013.  It is part of their Spring Cleaning initiative that they do on a (needed) regular basis. She's gonna go the way of 70 other Google programs they've shut down (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2013/03/a-second-spring-of-cleaning.html).

Google Reader has been the backbone of my content aggregation and consumption strategy for as long as I can remember. I run everything through it and sync it through all of my devices using Reeder and the like.

I get that the general world hasn't grabbed onto RSS the way we all hoped it would but this one, friends, is going to hurt.

BTW, I just checked, Feedburner is not currently on the list.

What is your take?  Will you miss it as much as I will?  Does anyone have an alternative?

Oh Microsoft, Oh Microsoft, please please please please consider implications when you do these kinds of things.

Is this what you want us thinking of when we're thinking of the Surface?

Do look again if you didn't catch where he was sitting.

6 Words On Why You Need A Platform.

Scott Hoffman from Folio Literary Management is one of the smartest people I know – period. In his world of publishing, he is the smartest people I know.

He just offered this nugget from the stage.

The iPad Mini And Content Production.

I'm sitting here in Starbucks waiting for someone. I knew it would be a bit of a wait. I grabbed my iPad Mini and the Zagg Mini 9 keyboard and was hoping to pound through some work.

Boy did I. The 1-2 combo of the iPad Mini in content consumption paired with a real keyboard for typing and you have something pretty powerful. Yes, there is nothing here that the "big" iPad doesn't have, tech wise, but this small form factor is so nice.

Last few trips down to San Diego – I've brought nothing but this combo. Never missed the bigger iPad – or my laptop.

Tonight I'll be catching up on a book in bed with the same iPad Mini. Poor Heidi will be reading on that huge iPad 3.

Yeah, Heidi is pretty much the only one who uses the "big" iPad right now.

More on this whole Google Plus "really" thing.

So, I published a post commenting on how Google Plus doesn't really care about Google Plus as destination – but as platform.  My Content Timeline system them kicked in and published that post to my blog.  Here's the link for your reference - https://plus.google.com/107254847750371936612/posts/jZweRwy5SKQ

Here's the link to the blog post that Content Timeline published -

Here's where it get's interesting.  As you can see in this Album -

A few minutes after posting, Google isn't sending any traffic to Google Plus – but right to my blog.

Why?

Google Plus is a Platform, not a Social Network.

As +Drew Olanoff says … deal.

What Google Plus Is Really About.

Highlights from this nearly perfect article:

Google+ is not a “social network”, it’s a platform to socialize all of the products that Google currently offers, such as Drive, Search and YouTube.

Google+ is Google. Deal

+Drew Olanoff is a smart guy.  Listen to him.

And, stop treating this like a social network.  Start treating it like a platform.  It's a platform whether you like it or not … even if you book calls it a social network.

Yes, I'm taking this whole Content Timeline thing pretty seriously.

iPhone 5 Pricing.

Paul Colligan —  September 12, 2012 — 1 Comment

iPhone 5 Pricing.

The iPhone 5 pricing is the same as past phones (obviously, a much better phone) at $199, $299 and $399 depending on memory.

iPhone 4s goes to $99.

iPhone 4 goes free.

Obviously, all with contract.

Pre-orders on the 14th. They start shipping on the 21st.

All the carriers – and if I understand it – all from a single version of the phone.
