At $199…I don’t need Google Docs or BT keyboard…it’s just for surfing, reading, shopping and watching.

As a WORK machine, this probably will not be stellar. So, ipad 2 it is. But as a play’watch movies machine, it could rule. But who wants to have 2 machines?

Thinking the same thing now. Nobody expects a $200 device to be a business device.

Agreed. I think this is the fork in the road for people who want a play/watch/movie machine who wouldn’t consider using it to do work.

The 7″ screen is the fail. Movies, Netflix and tv shows are way better on an iPad.

Paul – the $79 Kindle is what caught my attention. While I love my iPad2 and maybe the Fire would be something my son would like, I will be ordering up the $79 Kindle. While having two devices might be a little much, there have been many times I wish I could just have my Kindle for reading and not carrying around the iPad. If I really need to check email or a quick site I will just you the iPhone.

I think for a single person it’s fine – to share with anyone – yeah, you’ll need a bigger screen.
I’ve watched plenty of TV on my iPhone and it’s been fine.

Yeah, that’s a very easy purchase. So impressed with that one.

I have a bit of researching to do on the Kindle Fire but so far it seems like a nice tool. I would love a cheaper device for local travel that’s a bit easier than my smart phone. I don’t carry a laptop unless I’m going to be out all day or know I’m going to need it. At two hundred dollars there’s really less worry of damage or loss.
