My Business Card

Posted by Paul Colligan on Thursday, September 15, 2011

My new business card is the same shape and look as the iPhone 4. There’s a picture here in the post that shows what she look like.

Cool, eh?

Everything runs through Instant Customer, text, voice, email, web, etc.

It’s an automated system that brings everyone, no matter how they connect with me, into the SAME funnel.

I can text those who like text, call those who want a ring, email when it makes sense, etc.

All in one simple place.

I’d love your thoughts on this one.

I run a small business and we use cards as a “legitimizing” device, however, our greatest success with a tangible asset such as a card comes from makin it pretty and putting a magnetic backing on it. I call it refrigerator food as long as their fridge is magnetic. Out of sight, out of mind applies here, so you see what I’m getting at…

How did you see that stack of biz cards with a rubber band around it on my desk????? LOL! Course now I really want to see yours! Look forward to that happening..

Business card? My company is scribbles. I remove the wrappers from crayons and re-wrap them with a “scribbles” wrappers, branded as “adding color and eloquence.” I also change the names of the colors. Brown become “chocolate,” white is “fluffy clouds,” and blue has evolved into “Caribbean sea.” People get a bit confused when I hand them a crayon with a scribbles wrapper, but I know they keep my crayons and are less likely to  rubber-band them with a stack of cards.

I’ll be candid, I don’t get the funneling aspect. What I’ve seen of the website was aesthetically pleasing, but not very informative in terms of a “walk through.” How does it work to ensure that people are funneled to a particular offering, presumably of many, or at least a few without diluting branding perception(s)? If it can’t do that, then isn’t it just a tool for noobs (not to disparage the/any revenue seeking potential) If you needed a double opt in to do sms that would be one thing, but… to be fair though, I haven’t taken them up on their trial offer.

Follow up: There are some more detailed vids in their video tabs, to me, I would two things to get on board with it: being able to export from their site, any and all lists at any time, and deep analytics, which I hope would be what they are getting at, if they don’t already have it.

great questions. she’s not a noob at all – if anything she’s too complex to explain in a simple catch phrase – more of a mobile operating system than anything else.

tell me what you’d like to see in something like this and i’ll tell you if it’s possible.

Not only can you export – but even better is a complete 2-way API that let’s you trigger events at other system – or add to the IC database from another system.

Analytics are there when they are possible.

I can’t possibly be the only person who scans biz cards after an event, into my phone/computer… can I?

Amazing blog, I am regular visitor of this website, keep up the good work.

Instant Customer seems like it could get really expensive, really fast. As for the business card.. why not include a QR code that is a vCard or is liked to an information page?

In terms of the “expensive” issue – it all depends on the value of the list. The value of my list makes it a no-brainer.

In terms of QR codes – I could have, I’m just not convinced of their effectiveness. I’ve found plenty of consultants who are – just no end users ;-)

  • http://twitter.com/ScottBartell Scott Bartell

I think their effectiveness really relies on the execution of the QR code. Just a plain QR code might not draw too much attention.. but I’ve heard of a lot of success when the codes are implemented creatively - the Iron Man 2 poser comes to mind: where the QR code is in the chest of Iron Man and when it is scanned it plays a trailer of the movie.
