Who In This List Of Thought Leaders Do You Want To Hear Most And Why? Win Free Access To The Social Media Telesummit!

Posted by Paul Colligan on Monday, January 28, 2008

This started as a Tweet, but I decided to kick it up a notch.

I’ve written a few times about The Social Media Telesummit. I’ve already written that the model is killer but, I can’t stress enough the smart people associated with this group.

I want to know who in The Social Media Telesummit that you would want to hear the most and why. Leave your suggestions in the comments below.

I’ll pick one posting at random and buy them “A” level access to the event.

P.s. Entries that pretend I’m the one they’re looking forward to the most will be disqualified.

Let the comments begin …

Leesa Barnes gets my vote. I want to hear the person who came up with this idea. This seems like a paradigm shift in the way we need to start thinking about the internet. Even the forward thinking of the name of the event. Simple, but conveys a sense of convergence of the new techologies. I don’t think of Web 2.0 as something new. Marketing has always been about conversation and relationships, so Leesa is the person I want to hear. I want to know more about her AHA moment. I was so impressed with this idea, I ordered her book last night.

I like Yaro. Want to hear him too (like Paul’s Tweet).

    Too much suckup Paul?

It’s a tough decision, because there are 4 or 5 people that I’m very interested to hear. if I have to choose one person, though, it’s Jason Van Orden. I am a big fan of his podcasting book and have seen him present serveral times in NYC. He’s smart, funny and engaging and he doesn’t rely on overly technical explanations. He makes you feel like you can do this too!

    Hey Paul,

    Whoa! WHAT A LINE-UP!

It’s a tough call, but I’ll pick Scott Paton for my vote. Let’s face it. time shifted audio (and video) is where we are (and are headed), and Scott is on top of it. I think that making the most of podcasting is going to huge in 2008-09.!!!! I am placing my social media bet here.

    Who ‘da media?,

    Michael

My first choice is Jody Colvard. My interest is to create myself as an authority with great creditiblily as the Captain of the cruise vacation industry. I would use the knowledge gained from Jody Colvard to create both a radio show and television show that offers great content and projects a go to place for cruise vacation help and information.

Welllll, the line-up is quite impressive and I know that each expert will bring
lots of amazing information. Challenging to narrow it to one vote.
Your rules and I want to play. My vote goes for Denise and Patsi, the Blogsquad. Why?
As a team, they represent the closest to what I’d like to model-even their first utube video. I saw that and said “That’s it? I can do that! ”
They are boomers and I believe they make technical stuff look simple and achievable. Fun and creative, I believe they will share really innovative ideas
on using social media. There you go, Paul….

My top choice is Sherman Hu.

Sherman has a great way of breaking complicated things down in a way that a non techy like me can handle.

Thanks to Sherman I have successfully gotten involved with processes that I would have thought too challenging for me.

PLUS…he makes me laugh and I always have a good time when he speaks.

I want to hear Terry Green
    http://www.myfastype.com
Awarded the Thomas Leonard International Virtual Assistant Award of Distinction for her contributions to the virtual assistant field.

I am already involved in my own business, teaching people to do *scoping* (that’s doing computerized text-editing of transcripts for court reporters, right from home), which *is* a form of virtual assisting. I’m already a coach, and have been for some time. But I’m not in Terry’s league, financially, YET, and I want to be. Bring her on!

Leesa Barnes – I’m intrigued by the thinking and creativity that went into this event.

    Thanks Paul!

    Jeff

Scott Paton is at the top of my list as my podcasting interviews is in my near future and I’ve been told he’s the go to guy for this type of podcast and I’m hoping that was a good recommendation. Looking forward to hearing what he has to say.

I guess I would have to say Leesa. I attended her Online Media Success Workshop in Toronto and appreciated the way she used easy to understand examples to explain difficult concepts. Leesa has the ability to inform, motivate, and encourage, all at the same time.

  • http://leesabarnes.com Leesa Barnes

Paul, I don’t envy you. It’s going to be hard to select just one person. I love all the responses, thank goodness I’m not the one who has to pick.

  • http://www.buildabetterblog.com Denise aka The Blog Squad

I’m flattered that The Blog Squad was picked by one of your readers. This is a great idea, Paul, for encouraging interaction and discussion among your readers as well as building buzz for the event. Both you and Leesa are great models of how to use social tools to engage and inspire.

I’m especially interested in hearing Sherman Hu. As a new SMARTs member, I have been impressed with the Stompernet faculty and would like to hear Sherman’s perspective.

    Paul,

Andy Wibbels gets my vote. He really nails 2.0 for the small business.

I am looking forward to hearing from Christina Hills The Shopping Cart Queen. I want to hear how she gets more visitors that convert to buyers with her podcast.

  • Stan Levanduski

Incredible lineup – I want to hear them all!

But to pick one: My top choice would be Ron Rosenberg of http://www.qualitytalk.com and that’s because my work is similar to his – not the same exactly, but close enough so that by learning what and how he’s doing, I think I could create a parallel model.

Following in a close second is Michelle PW, making your web site go Ka-Ching.

I figured I’d look like a major suck-up if I put Paul Colligan in my first or second choice. Sorry Paul, but you’re right up there, too!

    Kindest Regards!!
    Stan

My company is in transition mode and what we’re missing is social media.

I agree it’s hard to pick one because all the speakers have something of value, but for me I’m picking Andy Wibbels.

Seems if I need to start with social media, blogs are the first choice.
I must admit I’m a bit shy about starting since I’m not a writer or a computer guy. Though I do subscribe to a lot of podcast.

  • http://www.tacony.com/myob Mike Buckley

Krishna De is an exceptional speaker. She’s knowledgeable on social media and walks the talk. Her Global Branding Summit was first rate. Her podcast is always interesting. Besides, I love her Irish accent.

  • http://Countyfairgrounds.net Kareb Riedl

Leesa of course. I could really use someone who can help me tie all the stuff I deal with together.

  • http://www.YourExpertMaker.com Amelia Brazell

Love the concept of so many leading experts in one place. So I have to vote for Leesa Barnes as the mastermind.

  • http://www.InCredibleHands.com Debbie Ally

My vote goes to Christina Hills, The Shopping Cart Queen! She’s the hands down expert on the top shopping cart systems and she’s able to provide the info and how-to needed to help others maximize the use of their shopping carts AND she does this in a way that doesn’t cause everyone’s eyes to glaze over. Yes, she’s high-tech, she has to be, BUT she translates the info to be extremely useful for the low tech among us!

  • http://connectedincommunity.com Brian Watts

My vote is Leesa Barnes. I heard Leesa on Milana Leshinski’s ACCPOW telesummit last year, and it looks like Leesa took good notes on designing a great telesummit. Based on the useful content she delivered at that event, the format of this telesummit, and the wonderful variety and quality of speakers she has, this should provide great value! As a coach and someone who is very interested in what’s possible through social networking, I applaud Leesa for her efforts and wish her every success with this event. Way to go Leesa!

I definitely would pick Leesa Barnes, I’m reading her book Podcasting for Profit and would love the opportunity to hear her live & experience what she’s created with the Telesummit.
