Tivo Stealing A Little Zune Thunder

So, in the midst of Zuneday, Tivo announced something very cool. Now, the keyword here is “announced” – but it is cool none the less. Lost Remote sums things up nicely.

Essentially, we’re going to be able to grab other forms of video off the net and view them on our Tivos. Yes, this means Video Podcasting to our Tivos at some point.

I’ll be keeping my eye on this one. You should as well. The more TVs are contents gets played on, the better off we all are.

Note: between the lines in the conversation, you’ll read something interesting. As I’ve written abour earlier, the MPEG2 format that Tivo works in is just too big for us Internet types. Looks like this technology will translate it to MPEG2 once it gets on our PCs. Not a bad solution.

Will it “save” Tivo? We’ll see.

Yes, this is competitor to Apple’s iTV.

Seems like there are a lot of them.

2007 is the year of the Internet on our television.

Podcasting will bring it to you – not the “traditional media.”
