Scoble on Zune

by Paul Colligan on August 18, 2006

I’ve put a blog up to track the whole “will Zune Podcast?” dream of mine. It got Scoblized today, and I thought you might be interested:

My original post – Zune ain’t for Podcasting.

Scoble’s comment – Can we dream of an 11th hour entry?

My response – I’d luv it – plenty others would – can we help?

Maybe a petition somewhere?

Microsoft, Podcasting … very real … stop ignoring it … it won’t go away … it cost you Scoble … what else will it cost you …?

  • Okay with all the speculation around I decided to run my own piece with a different angle, Interviewing my 15 year old on camera on what he thinks it will take for Zune to succeed and what would cause it to fail. Nothing high tech here just good honest teen talk. :-)

  • Michael,

We don't know for sure - but none of the early reviewers say a word about it. The marketing hype machine for Zune would (hopefully) go nuts if it did.

And, on the geeky side of things, I got LOTS of sever log access to assorted Podcasts and nothing even remotely smacking of Microsoft has come through.

I'd be THRILLED to eat my hat if I am wrong.

    I want to be wrong.

I, sadly, will be good money that I'm not.

    Paul
  • I would love to see Podcasting included but do we know for sure its not? I work at Microsoft, have a number of friends in the eHome group and no one I have talked to is sure about any of the particulars. Also, if (and this is a big if) the system is based on Windows Mobile how long do you think it would be before we saw something like this released as an update (think of Handango.com) Of course I am just conjecturing now as well which is fun but in the end thats what we are doing, conjecture on hearsay.
I will agree that Microsoft has a long way to go in embracing the social interactive sprectrum that includes bloggs, Podcasting, videocasting and more.
