I Endorse The New Podcast Directory As Well

Winer’s idea for a new open Podcasting directory is spot on. Best explanation for the non geeky is at Podcasting News.

Scoble’s support means we have PodTech’s as well. Todd Cochrane’s support means we get some of that Blubrry luvin too!

Count Colligan.com in for $100 but one question …

Dmoz is all but dead, iPodder is all but dead, what will keep this from assuming room temperature at some point?

    Hey Paul,

Michael Valiant from 1ShoppingCart here. I had to stop and make a comment on this post because, in addition to the day job, I also run one of the largest and oldest Podcast Directories going (no plug :) I didn’t stop to advertise…)

While I support what Winer is trying to do, I just don’t know that a community project like this is going to fly anymore…

First of all, the market is too fragmented (any idea how many directories are around now-a-days?)

Second, there are simply too many Podcasts out there to make a community grown directory even feasible anymore… both from a maintenance and functional standpoint.

If all things stay the same, this project will have the same problems that its forbearer had.

My prediction is this directory will grow slowly, and find a small niche, but that’s about it… There are other things on the horizon that will make this project obsolete :)
