Apple Changes Podcasting Categories at iTunes

by Paul Colligan on June 30, 2006

So I’m sitting next to Rick Klau from FeedBurner noticing that he’s spending a lot of time in the FeedBurner forum answering questions.

I just found out why.

Apple changed the category system within iTunes and, well, it’s a mess.

As of 16:57, Pacific, for instance the options for “Business” are

  • Careers
  • Investing
  • Management & Marketing
  • Management and Marketing together?

And, to make things more fun, there ain’t a stinking marketing Podcast in that area.

It’s a mess, FeedBurner knows, nobody told them, and now they gotta fix it over the holiday weekend.

It’s nice to have friends on your side.

      Hi Paul,

Hopefully Rick has had a chance to tell you already (if he's not too busy handing out stickers :) but our updates for the new categories are now live at feedburner.com. Publishers should feel free to make modifications as they wish to their existing podcasts.

Here's a simple post about it in our forums:

      Have fun at Gnomedex!
