Transcripts For Podcasts / Teleseminars – Thoughts?

Posted by Paul Colligan on Monday, June 26, 2006

First of all, big shout out to Jake over at for the intro to this company. Look forward to catching up with you a Gnomedex in a few days sir.

The company – CastingWords.com

The service – Transcripts for 42 cents a minute.

The results – Here are the transcripts I did from the Affiliate Manager Secrets call with Anik Singal last week.

The big idea – Pay for your transcripts with the little change you’ll collect from Google Adwords. More options for your content to your customers.

Your thoughts?

I haven’t posted the transcripts I ran through the service yet, but overall the results are well worth the $0.42 per minute. In a 5 person roundtable, CastingWords got a little confused with the names, but the actual transcript info was dead on.

    See you at Gnomedex!

I think it is money well spent. For one, it provides rich content for the search engines. That is reason enough for me. Also, my prime directive is to deliver the content. Some people will want to something mark up or refer to in print. Some people just prefer to read.

I know this seems to go against the convenience and multitasking nature of audio and may disturb some purists, but if your goal is to reach people, then it only makes sense.

Another thought….you could sell a deluxe version of your content that includes the written transcripts.

Someone was smart enough to take a valuable service (transcription) and niche it to a new industry…..smart move in my opinion.
