Don’t Worry, Microsoft Isn’t Releasing a Podcast Client!

by Paul Colligan on March 27, 2006

Regarding my question last week if the Mix06 demo was an actual Podcasting Client for Microsoft, well, we have the answer from Charlie Owen, who hopes I’ll “clarify” before the “hype machine gets going.

Q is not a shipping feature of Windows Vista — it is a sample application for which source code will ship with the Windows Media Center Software Development Kit for Windows Vista.

That’s right, Microsoft doesn’t have a Podcast client – they have a sample application for the Vista Media Center version (which I’m sure, as you have heard, has been delayed until next year).

Charlie, don’t worry, there is no hype when it comes to a Microsoft Podcast Client, only a fading hope from a few of us Redmond fans who still think it is a good idea.

  • Podcast client? Um, doesn't iTunes already do this (and integrate automatically with iPod?) What more could you want?

What would an MS client (released in 2007) do that you can't do today with iTunes?
