Podcast Expo Booth?

Posted by Paul Colligan on Friday, March 24, 2006

The business side of me says get a booth at Podcast Expo. The rates are obscenely low and I could only do well from it. By then, Podcast Cover Producer, 123 Podcast Launch, the Business Podcasting Bible and the Podcast Monetization Roadmap will all be ready for purchase.

The marketing side of me says dude, don’t get trapped in a booth. The real action comes from the interaction in the hallways, the closed door meetings, etc.

The logical side of me says put someone else in there to run the booth for me.

The scheming side of me says of those attending with me, I don’t want them running a booth either – I want them interacting as well.

What should I do?

I say split the booth with trusted colleagues.

    1. You’ll get to wander.

    2. You’ll get some face time in the booth.

    3. You’ll get someone you can trust in the booth that has stuff that complements your own.

    4. They get time to wander as well.

You’re right, the best part of an expo is the mingling.

    Hi Paul:

In my opinion, the advantages of the booth is primarily the PR value it brings. You can more easily be interviewed by media outlets when you have a booth on the floor, and you can issue a press release like major corporations do when they exhibit at shows. My official 2c, -Andrew Darlow
